Gaston College's top moments from 2022-23: No. 10 Beach volleyball officially opens its homecourt

Even though Gaston College's five-court on-campus beach volleyball pit was completed during the summer of 2022, the official opening of the facility did not come until March 25, 2023.

It was on that day that the Rhinos christened the pit by hosting the inaugural Rhinos Invitational, which brought together four teams for a weekend of beach volleyball.

The facility, located on the south Dallas campus between the Beam Visual Arts Center and the David Belk Cannon health complex, was abuzz with activity as fans, college officials, students and parents dropped by for the official unveiling.

What's more, the action in the pits in mostly favorable weather lived up to the hype of the event. In their opener, the Rhinos recorded their first-ever 5-0 sweep by taking down Sandhills Community College.

Later that day, Gaston College dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker to Catawba College. On the second day of the Rhinos Invitational, Richard Bland defeated Gaston College 5-0.
