Bio

As head coach, Doty brings 33 years of college baseball coaching experience to the team, including 18 years at the NCAA Division I level. 

Doty got his start in coaching in 1993 as a graduate assistant at the University of Arkansas, under NCAA College World Series championship-winning Hall of Fame coach Norm DeBriyn. Before his time at Gaston College, Doty coached at Pratt Community College, Indiana State, University of North Carolina Wilmington, Old Dominion, Arkansas-Fort Smith and for the University of North Carolina Charlotte. 

Under his coaching, 65 players have been drafted by major league teams – among them is eight-time All-Star and two-time Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander at Old Dominion. 

Doty himself was a three-sport athlete at Springdale Arkansas High School before he went on to play baseball at Crowder Junior College and Arkansas Tech University.
