Gaston College loses at No. 20 Caldwell Tech

Caldwell Tech's No. 20-ranked unbeaten Region 10 leaders proved too much for Gaston College on Wednesday night as the Rhinos lost 94-66 in a road game.

The host Cobras (19-1, 7-0) built a 44-26 halftime lead and cruised in the second half to the 28-point victory.

"We were in the building and present and then the substance we did have all of a sudden went flatline," Gaston College interim head coach Jermaine Williams said. "They made their run and we shrunk."

Tyheim Love led Gaston College with 20 points. Love tallied 15 in the second half.

Yarayah Evans had 13 points, Jamal Ukaegbu 10 and Asil Hoyle nine.

The loss dropped the Rhinos to 8-12 overall and 1-6 in Region 10.

Gaston College continues its ongoing five-game road trip on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Wake Tech. The Rhinos then make a two-day, two-game road trip at Cape Fear Community College on Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. and Brunswick Community College on Feb. 10 at 3 p.m. before visiting Richard Bland on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.

The Rhinos' next home game is Feb. 18 against Wake Tech at 3 p.m. at Gastonia's Ashbrook High School gymnasium.
