2021-22 REVIEW: Top 10 moments of the year - No. 10 First college baseball signees

When Gaston College restarted its baseball program, head coach Shohn Doty and assistant coaches Jacob Rand and K.J. McAllister knew the Rhinos would have to recruit talented players.

And among the first two to sign on with the program proved to be historic.

On Nov. 10, infielder Chandler Riley and pitcher Zach Zedalis became Gaston College's first four-year collegiate signees when Riley signed with Campbell University and Zedalis with the University of South Carolina.

Riley and Zedalis were key contributors to the Rhinos' championship-winning baseball program as Riley hit .382 with team-highs of 65 hits, 68 runs and 37 stolen bases and Zedalis had a 4-0 pitching record before an injury caused him to have season-ending surgery.

Gaston College would finish 41-9 overall, win the West Division of Region 10 regular season title and earn national top five rankings in all three National Junior College Athletic Association polls.
