Gaston College improves to 6-0 with win at Erskine

Gaston College's first long road trip of the season proved successful and kept the Rhinos unbeaten in their return to basketball after 50 years.

Gaston College travelled 122 miles to Erskine College in Due West, S.C., on Tuesday night and came away with a 64-52 victory over the Fleet's varsity II team.

The win gave the Rhinos a 6-0 record entering this weekend's games at Tallahassee Community College on Friday night and at Northwest Florida State College on Saturday.

In Tuesday's win, Jaylen Bates had 12 points, Joshua Johnson and Da'marco Watson 11 points each and Damon Davis and Naysean Baisy nine points apiece.

It was the Rhinos' second road game of the year, with the first road contest at Charlotte's Johnson & Wales University in the school's first basketball game since 1972 in its Nov. 5 season opener.
