Bio

Benny Moss, head coach of the Rhinos Basketball team, has over 30 years of college coaching experience, including nine conference championships and 13 national tournament appearances.

A native of North Carolina, Moss was a standout player on high school and college basketball teams, including stints with the UNC Charlotte 49ers and the Pfeiffer Falcons, where he helped the team win a pair of Conference Carolinas titles.

He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Pfeiffer, where the school won two more league titles and was an NAIA national tournament runner-up. After spending four years coaching in Oklahoma and Arkansas, he returned to North Carolina as an assistant coach for the 49ers. During his time there Charlotte won two league titles and advanced to the NCAA tournament four times.

Moss became the head coach at UNC-Wilmington in 2006 and guided the Seahawks to a 20-win season. He was also a runner-up in the Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year voting. He began a 12-year career as an assistant coach with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in 2011. The team made two NCAA appearances and was runner-up in the 2021 College Basketball Invitational. He was promoted to head coach in 2023 before joining the Rhinos as head coach in April 2024.
